(GSM) – Wayne Bridge is looking forward to compete against John Terry and his former club on Saturday, according to Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given.
The City defender is set to face Terry for the first time since revelations about their private lives sparked traumatic headlines for the left-back.
Bridge said in a statement on Thursday that he would be unavailable for England in the wake of allegations about a relationship between his ex-girlfriend and Terry.
Bridge and Terry will be in the spotlight on Saturday’s lunchtime match as City travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea.
With many speaking about the drama in the match, Given has no concerns about Bridge, “He is fine.
“Wayne Bridge is totally fine and he is looking forward to the game on Saturday and hopefully getting a good result for Manchester City, that’s the most important thing.
“It’s a massive game for everyone at the club, including Wayne.
Given refused to give his thoughts on Bridge’s refusal to be called for international action, stressing that it is a private matter.
“It’s a personal thing for Wayne and a private one and I don’t really want to comment on that situation.”
England are set to miss Wayne Bridge, new captain Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole when they face African champions Egypt next week.
