German newspaper Koln Express has revealed that Borussia M’gladbach are on the verge of agreeing a deal for FC Basel goalkeeper Yann Sommer.
With first choice keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen set to leave in the summer, die Fohlen have been on the lookout for his replacement.
And Koln Express reports that the Bundesliga side have all but agreed to sign Basel’s Yann Sommer for €8.5 million.
The transfer has yet to be confirmed, but it is believed there will be no obstacles to the talented shot-stopper joining Borussia on a four-year deal in the summer.
Borussia coach Lucien Favre has been impressed by his compatriot and he wasted no time in luring him to Monchengladbach after it had been revealed ter Stegen would be leaving the club.
Sommer, 25, came through the youth ranks at Basel and only established himself as a first team regular during the 2011/2012 season, following successful loan spells with Vaduz and Grasshoppers.
