Gladbach join chase for Kevin Wimmer

Sport Bild understands that Bundesliga strugglers Borussia M’gladbach have been showing interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer.

Having fallen behind Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier in the pecking order, the Austrian is reportedly considering his options.

And while Southampton are also interested in his services, a return to Bundesliga is a more realistic scenario.

Namely, London Evening Standard suggested few days ago that Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg were considering January moves for Wimmer, and now Sport Bild has learned that Borussia M’gladbach are also keen.

The centre-back, who is also capable of operating on the left hand side, only started two Premier League fixtures this season, while making another Champions League appearance.

Despite struggling for playing time at club level, he did fairly well on international stage, starting three matches for Austria in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

His current club Tottenham climbed to fifth as they came from behind to defeat Burnley, and they are 5/4 shot to achieve a top 4 finish.
