Bundesliga high-flyers Borussia M’gladbach have been credited with an interest in Mainz striker Shinji Okazaki, Rheinischer Post has suggested.
Die Fohlen aim to recruit two quality attackers after Max Kruse agreed a summer move to Wolfsburg, with Kevin Volland their number one target.
However, Rheinischer Post has claimed that they are also considering a move for Shinji Okazaki, before Bild confirmed reports as correct.
The Japanese forward has enjoyed two very successful seasons with Mainz, bagging a total of 27 league goals and the fact he has just one year left on his current deal means the 29-year-old could be leaving this summer.
According to Bild, Gladbach are also keeping close tabs on Yussuf Poulsen, Josip Drmic and Haris Seferovic.
Die Fohlen have done brilliantly to secure their place in the Champions League group stages for the new campaign and they are 8/15 to end the season with a win.
