Borussia Dortmund star Mario Goetze has extended his stay at the Westfalenstadion, the German champions have revealed.
Dortmund announced on their official website that the 19-year-old had signed a two-year contract extension that will see him stay at his hometown club until 2016.
“Everyone knows how comfortable I feel in Dortmund,” Goetze said.
The playmaker said Dortmund’s recent resurgence is far from over and he added: “I want to be part of this development.”
Sporting director Michael Zorc was thrilled to announce the new deal for Goetze, who has attracted the interest of Arsenal and Manchester United, with Dortmund having turned down an offer in excess of 30 million euros from the London club last year.
“We are very happy that we will take the next step with Mario in the future,” Zorc said.
Goetze first joined Dortmund at the age of nine. He made his first appearance with the club’s first team aged 17, and within a year earned his first senior international cap for Germany.
