Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Goetze believes international team-mate Bastian Schweinsteiger is the best midfielder in Germany.
The players will go head-to-head when the top two in the Bundesliga clash on Wedesday, and Goetze feels his Bayern Munich counterpart is the best his country has to offer.
“Bastian is the best in his position in Germany,” the 19-year-old told Kicker.
Goetze tried to put the pressure on Bayern heading into the match, saying the team from the Allianz Arena are still a class above defending champions Dortmund.
“They are a bit ahead, if you look at the past few years in the Champions League or in the DFB-Pokal,” he said.
“But things can change, we are well on our way.”
Nevertheless, Goetze feels his team will extend their 23-match unbeaten streak, and notch their fourth consecutive victory against Bayern.
“Borussia will win 2-1,” he said when asked for a score prediction.=
“We’re playing at home.
“It is abundantly clear that against Bayern, we will need to give more than 100 percent.
“After winning the last three games against them, we know how such a game feels – and how we must act.”
