Looking to move within touching distance of the Copa Libertadores spots, a resurgent Goias will make the trip to a Botafogo on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, putting in yet another lackluster display and sinking to a 1-0 defeat at home to Fluminense over the weekend, Botafogo find themselves in the midst of a real crisis. With only their goal difference still keeping them in the top-12, the former Brazilian giants have now lost their last four matches on the bounce and have not recorded a single Serie A victory since the start of September. With the pressure really starting to mount on Head Coach Eduardo Barroca, there is no doubt that fans around Rio will be growing more concerned by their side’s form in the final third. Botafogo have now failed to find the net in each of their last three and have recorded just one strike in their last five outings.

As for the visitors, while the mood in Rio might be at a continued low, the same can not be said for Goias. Picking up a 1-0 win away at Ceara over the weekend, former Brazil youth coach Ney Franco finds his side currently enjoying a five-match winning run across all formats and have also now won their last four Serie A matches on the bounce. Now a serious contender to land a shock Copa Libertadores spot this season, it has been their newfound defensive resolve that has really started to catch the eye. Wednesday’s guests have now gone over 450 minutes without picking the ball out of their net.
