Mario Gomez’s agent says the Bayern Munich striker is close to extending his stay at the Allianz Arena.
Speaking with Kicker, Gomez’s representative Uli Ferber claimed it is only a matter of time before the Germany international reaches an agreement with his club.
“We are well on our way,” Ferber said in reference to contract negotiations.
Gomez, whose previous contract was set to expire in June 2013, is expected to sign a new three-year deal lasting until 2016.
Ferber did not comment on the player’s expected earnings, but media reports have claimed Bayern will pay Gomez as much as 9 million euros per season.
The 26-year-old is currently joint-top scorer in the Bundesliga alongside Schalke’s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, having found the net 18 times so far.
In all competitions, Gomez has scored 80 goals since moving to Munich in 2009.
