Mario Gomez says winning the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich is more important than securing a regular first-team berth in the team.
The striker is no longer an undisputed starter at the Allianz Arena after missing the opening months of the 2012/13 campaign due to injury, but he has insisted lifting trophies is more important to him than returning to the starting XI.
“I really only have one big objective and that’s winning the Bundesliga title. Everything else is less important to me,” Gomez told Bild.
“I will be more than happy if I have to come off the bench 10 more times or so this season as long as we end up winning the league title.
“It’s too soon to congratulate us with the title, though. We know that we have remain focused during the second half of the season. We can only beat ourselves if we manage to do just that.”
Gomez has won two league titles to date, first with Stuttgart in 2006/07 and later with Bayern in 2009/10.
