Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez has signed a new deal with the Bundesliga club until the end of the 2015/16 season.
The striker joined Bayern from Stuttgart in 2009 and has since developed into a key player at the Allianz Arena.
“I have always said that Bayern are a great club and that I’m feeling very well here. That’s why I’m happy that the contract extension is all done now,” Gomez said of his new deal.
“I am confident that we can achieve a lot in the upcoming years. I am keen to play a big role in all that.”
Sporting director Christian Nerlinger was equally pleased with Gomez’s contract extension, and was full of praise for the striker.
“Mario Gomez has developed into one of the best strikers around in Europe in the past few years. We are happy that he will continue to score his goals for Bayern,” Nerlinger said.
“With the contract extension of Mario and several other Germany internationals,we have built the foundation for the next few years.”
Gomez has been in superb form for Bayern this term and has already netted 23 Bundesliga goals, as well as scoring 11 times in the Champions League.
