Lyon captain Maxime Gonalons has all but confirmed reports linking him with a summer move away from the club.
The highly rated midfielder was on the verge of joining Napoli in the winter transfer window, but the two clubs were ultimately unable to reach an agreement.
Nevertheless, everything suggests that the France international will be leaving les Gones come end of the season.
Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has promised Gonalons he will be sold in the summer and the player himself has admitted the time has come to leave his current employers.
“This is my fifth season at OL. With the president, we agreed to meet at the end of the season to find the best solution,” Gonalons explained to Le Parisien.
Maxime Gonalons has developed into one of Europe’s most accomplished holding midfielders during his time at Stade Gerland and he has amassed a total of 132 Ligue 1 appearances for les Gones, scoring 5 goals in the process.
Lyon play host to Montpellier later today in an attempt to close the gap behind the European positions, with Remi Garde’s side 10/11 favourites to claim maximum points.
