Bundesliga giants Schalke are readying summer bid for Bayer Leverkusen footballer Gonzalo Castro, reports Bild.
The Miners are reportedly on the lookout for a new right-sided defender and they were recently linked with a move for Hertha’s Peter Pekarik.
Nevertheless, Bild has learned that the Veltins Arena outfit have turned their attention towards Bayer Leverkusen star Gonzalo Castro.
While mostly being used as a central midfielder, the 26-year-old can also successfully operate as a right-back and there is a chance he could be available in the summer transfer window.
Castro is unhappy that sporting director Rudi Voller singled him out as one of the players who have underperformed this season and he is ready to consider his future.
The player, who has managed 5 goals and 9 assists in 29 league outings this season, has a contract until June 2016 at Bay Arena and is set to be offered a new deal by the club officials.
