Gourcuff accepts major pay cut to stay at Lyon

Lyon midfielder Yoann Gourcuff is ready to stay at Stade Gerland after accepting a huge pay cut, according to Canal +.

The former France star is by far the highest paid player at the club and his gross salary currently stands at around €7.5 million per year.

And with the player utterly failing to prove his worth since arriving from Bordeaux, he has been constantly linked with a move away from the club, even if Lyon chiefs insisted they wanted him to stay.

The latest reports suggest that Gourcuff will indeed sign a new deal with les Gones, having agreed to a salary of €4.2 million per season.

Lyon officials are satisfied with the midfielder’s latest performances and they still believe he can prove to be a good signing for the club.

Les Gones host Monaco in a high-profile encounter on Friday, and they are 29/20 to claim maximum points and end a three-match losing run.
