Yoann Gourcuff has played a central role in Bordeaux’s push for the Ligue 1 crown, but the midfielder believes his best displays this season have come for his country, not his club.
“I’ve had more space and more possibilities to find the right solution at the right time with France than with Bordeaux. That’s why I think my best games have come in internationals,” said the 22-year-old, who has seven caps and scored once, with a spectacular long-range effort against Romania in October.
“At Bordeaux, I’ve been good over a 15 or 20-minute period in matches. Against Romania or Serbia, it was the whole game. I saw a lot of the ball, and managed to find my team-mates.”
