Former France international Yoann Gourcuff is currently in talks over a move to Rennes, his official representative has moved to reveal.
The player’s desire to return to native Brittany left les Bretons as the main contenders for his signature and L’Equipe recently revealed the agreement was on the horizon.
Gourcuff’s agent Didier Poulmaire has now confirmed the two sides are still negotiating, with the midfielder’s fitness levels also an issue.
“Contractual discussions were started last week. It (the agreement) depends on what happens regarding his fitness levels and with negotiations,” Poulmaire was quoted as saying.
Yoann Gourcuff has been searching for a new club since leaving Lyon earlier this summer and everything suggests he will be moving to Stade de la Route de Lorient.
The 29-year-old is desperate to get his career back on track after a disappointing spell at Stade Gerland and coach Philippe Montanier is eager to add the attacking midfielder to his ranks.
Rennes made two great loan signings on transfer deadline day, adding the likes of Juan Quintero and Jeremie Boga to the squad.
