Wolfsburg striker Grafite has apologized for complaining publicly about his substitution in a Bundesliga match at the weekend and agreed to donate €10,000 to a children’s charity.
Grafite, the Bundesliga’s top scorer last season, said after being substituted early in the second half of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at VfL Bochum that, “I have a history at this club and deserve a bit more respect.”
Coach Armin Veh said Wednesday that the Brazilian has now apologized and that “the issue is dealt with.”
Veh said players have the right to speak their minds but “also must not forget that football is not an individual sport, but a team one.”
The 30-year-old’s goals were key in bringing Wolfsburg its first league title last season.
