Greece coach Fernando Santos has insisted that the Euro 2004 winners will not be pushovers at Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.
The Greek squad departed for Warsaw on Sunday, and Santos feels that there are no teams at the tournament that are significantly better than Greece.
“Nobody will defeat Greece easily. Nobody is much better than we are,” the national team coach asserted to reporters.
“My players deserve the warmest wishes of good luck. They are those who give me self-confidence and want to make Greek people happy.”
Meanwhile, midfielder Giorgos Karagounis added that the Greek squad will do their utmost to do their countrymen proud.
“The atmosphere among the team is excellent. We all know what we have to do in a few days from now. We’ll do everything to make our fellow Greeks happy,” he said.
Greece will compete in the opening match of the tournament on June 8 against co-hosts Poland.
