AO Xanthi and Asteras Tripolis are close to a spot in the semi finals of the Greek Cup after beating AEK Athens and Panionios in first leg action on Wednesday.

AEK did take the lead, as expected, when Ismael Blanco converted a penalty in the fifth minute. However, Abraham equalised shortly before the break and Libor Dosek made it 2-1 to Xanthi in the 68th minute.

Asteras Tripolis did well to earn a 0-1 win at Panionios in Athens. The only goal came at just three minutes from the end and was scored by Vangelis Kaounos.

The quarter final return legs will be played on February 25th and March 4th.
