Two sides enduring very different success in Brazil’s top-flight of late, a resurgent Gremio will welcome Chapeconense to the Arena do Grêmio in the early hours of Tuesday.

Starting with the hosts, putting in yet another dominant display in their empathic 3-0 victory away at Libertad over the weekend and continuing to shine, the mood in Gremio’s camp couldn’t be any higher. Now enjoying a 10-match unbeaten run that stems back to the 1st of June, it will undoubtedly be their continued defensive stability most impressing Head Coach Renato Portaluppi. Along with recording yet another clean sheet on the road last time out, Mortal Tricolor have now gone over 300 minutes without picking the ball out of their own net and have conceded just one Serie A goal on home soil since the start of May.

As for the visitors, while Gremio may have their sights set on making a charge up the Serie A standings, Chapeconense find themselves in a very different position. Now sat three points adrift of safety and freefalling down to 18th, they once again flattered to deceive in their 0-0 draw against Bahia last week and former Brazil youth coach Ney Franco has seen his side fail to pick up a single win since the end of May. With Gremio picking up a routine 2-0 win when the two sides last met back in November, we’re expecting a similar result for a Mortal Tricolor outfit high on both confidence and form.
