The likes of Mundo Deportivo and several other Spanish media outlets have been bussing over the past few days about a reported agreement between La Liga giants Barcelona and Brazil heavyweights Gremio over Arthur.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder has emerged as one of the top targets for the Catalan powerhouse who were said to have agreed on a transfer that would see Arthur move to Camp Nou in 2019.
Gremio president Romildo Bolzan Junior moved on to deny such claims, however, revealing that the Brazilian club haven’t been in contact with Barcelona for more than a month on the subject in question.
“No deal was reached over Arthur with Barcelona.”, Romildo Bolzan Junior said in a press conference according to Globo Esporte.
Barcelona were even said to be pushing for Coutinho to be issued a Portuguese passport so that a non-EU spot would open up within the squad to accommodate the arrival of Arthur but with no agreement agreed as of yet, the Catalans will have plenty of time to resolve the issue.
Paulinho, Coutinho and Mina are currently occupying the three non-EU spots at Barcelona.
