Things are getting heated up in Major League Soccer, as the franchises are preparing for another season. Whilst many are talking about which stars could join the league during off-season, it is noticeable that some big names have left it. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is heading back to Europe, Bastian Schweinsteiger has ended his career, whilst Wayne Rooney joined Derby County as player/coach.
But now another big name signing could be leaving the United States, as TYC are reporting that Gremio are interested in signing Atlanta United’s Gonzalo ‘Pity’ Martinez. The Brazilian side were linked with the 26-year-old over the summer transfer window, and now seem set to reignite their interest when the January window opens.
Martinez joined Atlanta United as a huge signing after River Plate’s triumph in Copa Libertadores, but has not settled in as it was expected, scoring five goals and adding nine assists in 32 MLS appearances. Still, it remains to be seen what would the asking price be…
