Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier has admitted that a January exit from Stade Gerland is a realistic possibility.
The 22-year-old was on the verge of leaving les Gones in the summer, but he eventually opted to extend his contract until June 2016.
That, however, does not mean that he will be staying at Stade Gerland for much longer as the player is disappointed by club’s poor league position.
Asked by the readers of magazine Planete Lyon whether he would be leaving Lyon in January, Grenier replied: “I do not know. Because, if I do leave in the January transfer window, I’m gone, it happens so quickly…
”But, I also extended until 2016, because in case I do leave, I do not want to leave my club on a free transfer but bring them some money to thank them for everything they did for me over the years.”
Clement Grenier has seen his stock rise a great deal over the last couple of years and he has developed into a key player at Stade Gerland.
The talented footballer has scored 10 league goals over the last year and a half while also breaking into the national team set-up and he could find himself on a plane to Brazil in June.
Lyon resume their Ligue 1 campaign with a home match against struggling Sochaux, with les Gones 2/5 to claim maximum points.
