Griezmann could leave Atletico, says agent

Atletico Madrid hotshot Antoine Griezmann could be leaving Vicente Calderon for greener pastures in the summer, according to his official representative.

The Frenchman has been the subject of heavy interest from abroad, and recent reports suggest that some of his suitors are prepared to match the €100 million release clause.

And while the forward is adamant he is happy to remain with los Colchoneros, his agent cannot rule out a summer exit.

“There are not 50,000 clubs that can put 100 million on the table, it’s quickly figured out. That’s the price of the clause, they won’t give anything away cheaply. That limits the number of candidates right now,” agent Eric Olhats told Radio Monte Carlo.

He also shed some light on the reported interest from Manchester United.

“I had heard that Manchester United was done, was signed, but we don’t even know if they’ll play in the Champions League! That’s important, I must say.

“Manchester United have made an approach to inform themselves, just like all the others. They come to find out what our thinking is, what the player’s thinking is, if there are possibilities, how much, how…But it seems logical.”

Olhats claims that few more top clubs have enquired about his client.

“Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona and even Real have knocked on the door to see where things are, everyone comes to see what is do-able, and what is not do-able, that’s normal. It’s a game of musical chairs.”

Antoine Griezmann has been one of Atletico Madrid’s star performers ever since he arrived from Real Sociedad almost three years ago.

The 26-year-old went on to score 58 goals in 84 La Liga outings, while netting 13 times in 30 Champions League appearances for the club.
