Antoine Griezmann has revealed he has no intention of leaving Atletico Madrid amid strong links with Manchester United.
“I’ve to earn myself to be a legend in this club,” the France international told Marca. “That’s my mission.”
“By 2024 I want to bring joy to the fans and some title for Atletico. It would be a dream.”
Reports elsewhere claimed there was a €25 million release clause in Griezmann’s contract with Atletico, which Manchester United were willing to trigger. However, it seems that even if that’s all true, the 32-year-old attacker simply doesn’t want to leave Atletico for a second time.
Griezmann left Atletico in 2019 for Barcelona, who paid a fee of €120 million for his services, but he didn’t have the best of spells there. He returned to the Wanda Metropolitano two years later, initially on a one-season loan, which was made permanent for just €20 million in 2022.
This season, Griezmann has scored 12 goals and produced one assist in 16 games played in all competitions so far.
