Griezmann rejects new Atletico Madrid deal

Spanish daily newspaper Marca understands that Antonine Griezmann is almost certain to leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the season.

The French forward is believed to be keen on a summer move to Barcelona, with the Catalans ready to match his €100 million release clause.

Atletico Madrid officials were hoping that Griezmann would agree to a new deal that would include a higher buy-out clause, but latest reports suggest the 26-year-old has rejected the latest proposal.

Los Colchoneros offered the striker a major pay rise, but they were told the player was not interested in renewing, which basically means he is set to join Barcelona in the summer.

Griezmann has now scored 16 goals or more in each of last five La Liga campaigns, and is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most prolific forwards.
