Grimaldo to make Man United switch

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been seeking a new left back for a considerable amount of time now and the Portuguese tactician has now been told that he can target Benfica fullback Alejandro Grimaldo, according to the Metro.

Mourinho has never showed a huge amount of confidence in current United left back Luke Shaw, so much so that both Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian have played ahead of the England international this season. With Blind being linked with a move away from Old Trafford and Darmian being more suited to a right-sided role, it is no surprise that Mourinho is looking to strengthen the left back position.

United’s defence has been hugely impressive this season, despite this apparent weakness, and the Red Devils have concede just two goals in their eight Premier League games this season. The addition of Grimaldo would inject pace into the Manchester club’s back line, as well as a decent attacking threat. The young fullback bagged two goals and three assists last season in the Primeira Liga as Benfica cruised to the title and could be the perfect fit in Manchester.
