FC Groningen reclaimed the Dutch Eredivisie lead with a convincing win over ADO Den Haag, while both Ajax and Feyenoord crashed to painful defeats.
Groningen were never troubled by ADO at Euroborg stadium. Andersson opened the score after just eleven minutes and Levchenko doubled the gap fourteen minutes later.
Markus Berg added a third and final goal in the 70th minute, allowing Groningen to secure the win and move back into first place ahead of PSV Eindhoven.
Ajax suffered a serious away defeat to SC Heerenveen, who took a 4-0 lead with goals from Silva (own goal), Beerens, Sibon and Pranjic (penalty).
Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Luis Suarez (spot kick) then did something back for the Amsterdam outfit but their hope was officially ended by Pranjic’ goal for 5-2 in the dying minutes. On top of everything, Ajax player Van der Wiel conceded a second booking in the 89th minute.
Ajax currently occupy the tenth place in the Eredivisie, Heerenveen the fourth.
Feyenoord fans hoped for an end to their years of misery, but the Rotterdam side looks anything but convincing so far, as Sunday’s defeat to NEC has them drop into 14th place.
The goals at De Kuip stadium came from Janssen in the 49th minute and Ntibazonkiza in the 56th.
