According to a recent report from Manchester Evening News, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has claimed that he could leave the club if their performances and results do not match the standards of what he has been able to accomplish at the Etihad in the last few years. City’s surprise 2-0 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers this past weekend ensured that they would be heading into the international break eight points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, with City facing the very real possibility that they could end up losing the title to the Reds.
Guardiola is a very specific kind of manager and if he is led to believe the club isn’t doing as well as it once was, he could look ahead to his next project.
Pep will undoubtedly want to try and win the Champions League with City, but regardless of whether or not he accomplishes that goal, fans need to get used to the fact that this could well be his final season in English football – for now, at least.
