Pep Guardiola has insisted that Mario Gomez will remain with Bayern Munich despite interest from Juventus and Fiorentina.
The striker, who fell out of favour at Bayern as a result of the emergence of Mario Mandzukic, has been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena.
Italy has been mooted as a potential destination for the Germany international, with both Juventus and Fiorentina said to be keen to acquire the 27-year-old’s services.
However, Guardiola was quick to stress that Gomez is very much a part of his plans.
“Gomez belongs to us,” he said.
“He is a Bayern player right now and I’ll treat him like one.”
Guardiola’s sentiments were echoed by chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who declared that Gomez would be present for pre-season training.
“He will be present at the club’s first training session of the season,” Rummenigge said.
Gomez made 32 appearances for Bayern last season, scoring 19 goals.
