Pep Guardiola was pleased to see Bayern Munich showed no ill-effects from international duty as they romped to a 6-0 win over Werder Bremen.
With many of his squad away with their respective countries over the past fortnight, Guardiola had little time to prepare for Saturday’s Bundesliga clash, but Bayern were impressive throughout.
Philipp Lahm, who recorded his 200th Bundesliga win, set the ball rolling with the opening goal on 20 minutes.
He added his second with 11 minutes to play after Xabi Alonso, Thomas Muller and Mario Gotze had found the back of the net, Gotze adding the final goal of the game on 86 minutes.
Guardiola was happy with his side’s display at the Allianz Arena, and now turns his attention to Tuesday trip to Roma in the UEFA Champions League.
“After the internationals it is always a bit difficult,” the head coach said. “But we played well.
“[We had] good build-up play, great positioning and the right attitude.
“We now have three points more and [are] focusing on the Champions League.”
Captain Lahm was equally enthused about the performance, insisting they had perfectly executed Guardiola’s plans to deal with the threat posed by their opponents.
“It was a top performance from the team,” he said. “We have gained confidence.
“That was exactly what we had planned, now we want to win again in Rome.”
