Guardiola not surprised by Pochettino/Madrid links

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has noted that he isn’t surprised by the reports linking Mauricio Pochettino to Real Madrid, because he has grown to become an elite level manager. Pochettino has been able to help solidify Tottenham Hotspur as an elite Premier League club, and has even helped to expand their horizons on a European scale.

On the other hand, Julen Lopetegui has really struggled to get Real Madrid going and while that may not be entirely his fault, it seems like only a matter of time before he is shipped out in favour of someone new. Antonio Conte is still considered to be the leading contender to take over as boss, but there’s still a chance that Pochettino could take over – especially given his recent remarks that seemed to hint at the fact he’s currently enduring his most stressful period as the manager of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
