Guardiola open to offers

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has reiterated his desire to take a break from the game, but says he is open to a return soon.

The 41-year-old recently announced his decision to quit Barcelona to take time off from football after a successful four-year stint with the La Liga giants.

Nevertheless, Guardiola’s farewell to the game could only be temporary, with the tactician eager to return when he is ready.

“I will be pleased to receive calls (from interested clubs), of course, but for the next few months I have to recharge my batteries, recharge my mind,” Guardiola told reporters.

“I’m going to rest for now and then I will wait. If a club wants me once I’ve recharged my batteries, and they seduce me, I will coach again.”

The Spaniard has hinted his self-imposed break may not last that long – something likely to put Chelsea on high alert.

Chelsea are yet to decide on a manager despite impressing under interim boss Roberto Di Matteo.

Guardiola congratulated Chelsea on winning the Champions League, and said he was still getting over his team’s semi-final loss to the Blues.

“I would have liked to reach Munich. I think we played a good semi-final to be there. That is the only (regret) and time will cure it,” he said.

“But as for today I am still sad as I think we did all we could to reach that final. I have to congratulate Chelsea because it is all their credit.”
