Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has agreed to terms on a contract extension to keep him at the club until the end of the 2011/12 season.
The additional one year will mean the Spaniard will extend his stay to four seasons at the club. A former player of Barca, he is on track to secure a treble of La Liga titles this season and has already steered them to the Champions League title in his reign.
“FC Barcelona announce that they have reached an agreement with Josep Guardiola to renew his contract with the club for another season, until the 30th of June 2012,” a statement on the club’s website read.
“The signing of the contract will take place in the next few days.”
The 40-year-old’s original contract was due to expire at season’s end, but the Catalan outfit was keen to shore up Guardiola’s services in the wake of interest in his services from clubs around the world.
