Atalanta midfielder Tiberio Guarente has completed his switch to Spanish club Sevilla FC. The Pisa born midfielder has signed a five year contract with Sevilla, who have paid Atalanta a reported 5.5 million euro fee for the player’s services.
Guarente has played for only two Italian clubs in his short career- Hellas Verona and Atalanta. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to prevent Atalanta’s relegation to Serie B last season. Guarente has been capped by Italy at U-18, U-19 and U-20 levels, and was also part of the Italian football team that competed at the 2008 Olympics.
Sevilla finished fourth in La Liga last season behind Barcelona, Real Madrid and Valencia. Guarente will now become the only Italian player in Sevilla’s first team setup.
