Feyenoord coach Ronald Koeman says John Guidetti could start for the Rotterdam side against rivals Ajax on Sunday.
The striker, on loan from Manchester City, missed the Dutch side’s first match of 2012 against VVV Venlo on Sunday with tonsillitis but the Swede returned to training on Friday and could be back in the starting XI this weekend.
“It depends on the next few days,” Koeman told the club’s official website. “We will decide later on whether John is fit enough to play from the start or will start from the bench.”
Miquel Nelom and Stefan de Vrij are both fit, and Koeman said either of them could start, while Guyon Fernandez is also available to feature against Ajax after serving a six-game suspension.
“Tomorrow we will learn how Stefan and Miquel stand and we will make a decision,” Koeman said.
“Guyon has also always trained hard, so he is in good shape and he’s ready for Sunday.”
Feyenoord are in sixth place in the Eredivisie, three points behind champions Ajax, who are fourth.
