Manchester City striker John Guidetti is optimistic about joining Celtic on loan even with the transfer window now closed.
The two clubs agreed on a loan deal on transfer deadline day, but the move could not be completed as the paperwork had not been submitted ahead of the 23.00 deadline.
Nevertheless, Scottish FA has appealed to FIFA on behalf of Celtic in an attempt to make the loan official after all.
John Guidetti admits he is hoping to join the Bhoys in the coming days, but is also prepared to fight for his place at the Etihad if the appeal proves unsuccessful.
“The move looked to have gone to pieces but now the club has enabled the SFA to take up the matter with FIFA in the hope an exception can be made,” he told Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
“Celtic felt good and it was the only club for me. The fans are very passionate and it would be nice if the deal went through.
“If it happens, (a move to Celtic) fantastic, and if it doesn’t, I still belong to a great club in Manchester where I will fight for a place. I’ll still train with the best players in the world and constantly evolve.”
The 22-year-old was loaned to Stoke in January this year after finally returning from an 18-month injury lay-off, but he could only make six substitute appearances in the Premier League.
But, having earlier impressed to score 20 goals in 23 league outings while on loan at Feyenoord, Guidetti remains on the radar of top European clubs.
