Stoke City and Sunderland are battling to secure the services of Manchester City’s want-away striker John Guidetti, the Daily Star understands.
The one time Sweden international is keen to leave the Etihad Stadium after making just two senior appearances for the club.
He had initially impressed the Blue side of Manchester with thirteen goals in as many appearances for the Under 18 squad.
The majority of the 21 year old’s first team game time has come whilst out on loan, first with Swedish side Brommapojkarna, then with Burnley and on to Feyenord, where he scored twenty goals in twenty-three Eredivise appearances two seasons ago.
He has spent eighteen months on the side-lines since his spell with Ronald Koeman’s side ended, and is ready to find a new club, with either Stoke or Sunderland currently his most likely destination.
Guidetti is in line to win his eleventh cap for the Under 21’s in this evening’s clash with Malta.
