Brazilian defender Guilherme Siqueira has rescinded his contract with Atletico Madrid, it has been revealed.
The 31-year-old returned to the club after an 18-month loan spell at Valencia, but missed the start of the season through a knee injury.
With the player clearly not in Diego Simeone’s first team plans, his contract was terminated by mutual consent some nine months before it was due to expire.
Siqueira said goodbye to Atletico Madrid fans via social media, revealing that he should be ready to resume training in eight weeks after undergoing an arthroscopy in Brazil.
Having enjoyed several very successful La Liga campaigns with Granada, Atletico Madrid and Valencia, the experienced footballer should have no problems finding a new club.
