Recent rumours suggest Lazio are interested in taking Jorginho back to Italy this summer.

The Arsenal midfielder spent four years at Napoli, before joining Chelsea in 2018. He only made the move across London to join the Gunners this January, and the 31-year-old Italy international reportedly has no intention of leaving the UK capital just yet, even though the club are doing what they can to boost their midfield ranks.

The potential arrivals of players like Declan Rice or Moises Caicedo would surely limit Jorginho’s time on the pitch.

Ilkay Gundogan has reportedly decided to leave Manchester City and join Barcelona as a free agent.

It’s certainly the end of an era at the Etihad. The Germany international arrived from Borussia Dortmund in 2016 as one of the first signings the club made under Pep Guardiola, and his contribution to the vast success they’ve achieved since is huge.

Man City to enter Rice race?

Arsenal have had two offers for Rice rejected by West Ham, the second one amounting to a total of £90 million, add-ons included. And amid all the Gunners’ struggles on that front, fresh reports claim they’re about to fight another battle with Manchester City, to whom they lost the Premier League title race in 2022/23.

And while many still expect the England international to move to the Emirates this summer, City stepping in with ideas of their own would obviously spark a change in that respect. With Ilkay Gundogan and possibly Bernardo Silva on the way out, the reigning champions are surely in need of midfield reinforcements of their own, and they’ve shown many times in the past that they don’t shy away from spending big on high-quality players.

West Ham looking at Zakaria

Meanwhile, amid all the ruckus about Rice’s departure, West Ham are believed to be considering a move for Denis Zakaria.

The 26-year-old Swiss international spent the 2022/23 season on loan with Chelsea, and is now due back at Juventus where there doesn’t seem to be a place for him in the squad. His time at Stamford Bridge didn’t go as well as he might have hoped for either – he only made 13 appearances across all competitions for a team that struggled in all areas of the game throughout the campaign.

Could he find his feet at the London Stadium next term?

The Magpies sporting director Dan Ashworth has been seen in the Italian city, having gone there to wrap the transfer up, while manager Eddie Howe apparently wants to pair the 23-year-old Italy international with Bruno Guimaraes, hoping to give more freedom to the Brazilian playmaker with a solid defensive presence by his side.

Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea over the proposed signing of Kai Havertz, and the Germany international is now set to undergo a medical, preceding the completion and official confirmation of the transfer.

It is believed that the services of the 24-year-old forward, who scored 32 goals and produced 15 assists in 139 appearances across all competitions for the Blues, will cost Arsenal an initial amount of £62 million, with various add-ons to follow.
