Arsenal to pip Fenerbahce for Spanish striker?

Arsenal have sounded an interest in 27 year old, Real Mallorca striker Daniel Guiza as a potential replacement for Barcelona and AC Milan target Emmanuel Adebayor, according to the Daily Mail.

However, it is also reported that the player underwent a medical with Fenerbache last week. The news of Wenger’s interest has caused some concern in the Turkish camp, whom the report claims, is nervous about the lack of further developments.

Cash strapped Mallorca, who are a takeover target for former Newcastle chairman Freddie Shepherd, are resigned to losing Guiza who has a £12m buy-out clause written into his contract.

Guiza’s performance in La Liga last season saw him bag 27 goals and with it the Spanish League’s Golden Boot. This earned him a place on the national team for the summer European Championship tournament.
