Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo said their win over Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final gives the Germans the edge.
Goals from Mario Gomez and Franck Ribery either side of a Mesut Ozil strike have given the Bavarians a 2-1 advantage heading into the return leg at the Santiago Bernabeu next week.
Gustavo lamented his side’s concession of a goal, but stressed that Bayern were worthy of the victory against Jose Mourinho’s men.
“I am very pleased with the team’s performance,” he told Goal.com.
“We were determined to win and everybody worked very hard for it.
“Real Madrid were lucky with their goal. Our late winner gives us the edge, though.
“But it will not mean a lot as Madrid will be desperate to beat us. We have to be extremely focused in Madrid. It will be a very difficult game.
“Winning was very important. However, we really wanted to keep a clean sheet as well.”
The return fixture is scheduled for Thursday in the Spanish capital.
