Competition: MLS
Market: Gustavo Bou to score anytime
Odds: 6/5 @ 888sport
Smelling a real chance when they return to the Gillette Stadium on Thursday, New England will be looking to pile even more pressure on a struggling Toronto in midweek.
Starting with the hosts, throwing away their two-goal lead over the weekend and eventually having to settle for a point away at Columbus Crew, there is no doubt that New England will be glad to make a return to home soil. Despite mustering just a single point from their back-to-back MLS matchups, The Revs still find themselves leading the race in the Eastern Conference. Gaining a reputation for their continued success at the Gillette Stadium, Head Coach Bruce Arena will be hugely excited by Gustavo Bou’s free-scoring purple patch. Once again getting himself on the scoresheet against Columbus last time out, the 31-year-old has now remarkably got on the scoresheet in each of his last five MLS appearances on the spin. Spearheading a New England side who hold the best-attacking return in the East, Bou should be confident of extending on his recent purple patch.
As for the visitors, while New England might find themselves battling it out at the top of the table, Toronto are enduring their own nightmare run at the foot of the Eastern Conference. Only managing to muster themselves five points since opening the 2021 campaign, the former champions were last seen putting in a woeful display over the weekend. Coming under even more scrutiny, The Reds were hit with a stunning 7-1 drumming away at DC United and they are certainly a squad in the midst of a crisis. Now under the guidance of interim boss Javier Pérez, Toronto have lost each of their last six MLS matchups on the bounce and it is no surprise they have gained a reputation for their rather glaring problems at the back. Facing what should be another overwhelming test in midweek, it’s well worth keeping an eye out for a free-scoring Bou here.
