Newcastle United star Jonas Gutierrez believes that his side deserve their place as early Champions League challengers.
The Magpies currently lie fourth in the Premier League after a 2-2 draw against Tottenham on Sunday continued the team’s unbeaten start to the season.
Gutierrez said that the side can continue their run of form as they prepare to take on struggling Wigan Athletic at St. James’ Park on Saturday, with the Argentine winger stating their current spot in fourth is a worthy one.
He told The Sun: “Nobody has beaten us yet this season so we deserve it and next weekend we have a great opportunity to take three more points.”
“We are trying to play good football and keep the ball. It will be hard to stay in the top four, we know that. There are a lot of good teams but we deserve to be fourth.”
