Gvardiol conundrum, Man United sign Onana, Trafford joins Burnley, and more: The Daily Transfer Round Up – Thursday, July 20

Conflicting reports on City agreement for Gvardiol

On Wednesday evening, reports from several sources broke claiming Manchester City and RB Leipzig had come to an agreement over the proposed transfer of Josko Gvardiol. Now, however, others are saying that NO agreement is in place, and that the Croatia international not only remains a Leipzig player, but he attended a training session with the Bundesliga club today.

It had been reported that Gvardiol had even undergone a medical with the Champions League winners, but it seems that if so, he would have done it without the permission of his current employers.

Leipzig are believed to be holding fast to their demands of €100 million as the guaranteed part of the fee, with realistic add-ons to come on top of that.

It appears that a lot remains to be done for this matter to be cleared up, but plainly, for the time being, the 21-year-old defender remains in the employment of Leipzig.

Burnley sign England Under-21 goalkeeper James Trafford

Burnley have completed and confirmed the signing of James Trafford from Manchester City, England’s hero of the recently ended UEFA Euro Under-21.

Trafford produced a brilliant last-gasp double save from Spain’s penalty in the final of the tournament, keeping England’s 1-0 lead intact and helping his team secure the trophy.

The 20-year-old shot-stopper spent last season on loan with League One side Bolton, and with Ederson Moraes for competition at City, he wouldn’t have gotten much game-time had he stayed in Pep Guardiola’s ranks.

Manchester United complete Onana signing

Manchester United have completed and confirmed the signing of Andre Onana from Inter Milan.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper was linked with United for a while, ever since David De Gea’s future at the club became uncertain. With the Spaniard now gone, the road is clear for Onana to take the spot between the posts at Old Trafford.

With add-ons, United could reportedly end up paying up to £50 million for the 27-year-old.

Al-Ahli attempting Fulham raid for Mitrovic and Silva

According to multiple sources, Al-Ahli are pushing hard to sign striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and manager Marco Silva from Fulham, and the Premier League side are not impressed with their approach.

Apparently, there is an offer of £40 million for a two-year period on Silva’s table. If he accepts, the Saudi club could trigger the £6 million release clause in his contract.

As for Mitrovic, the Serbia international is said to be keen on the move and “increasingly frustrated” with Fulham, believing he’s being deliberately priced out of the market. There are even reports claiming he’s told some of his relatives that he won’t play for the Cottagers again.

Jordi Alba joins Inter Miami

Inter Miami appear to have planned a little Barcelona reunion in Florida this summer. Having brought Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets to their ranks, the franchise partly owned by David Beckham have now completed and confirmed the signing of Jordi Alba on a free transfer from the Catalan club.
