According to a recent report from The Athletic, Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland had come to terms on a deal with Manchester United prior to actually making the move over to Dortmund. While it may have just been a verbal agreement it’s understandable that United may harbour a bit of resentment towards the German club as a result of the ordeal, with the belief being that United’s lack of presence in the UEFA Champions League played a key role in helping Haaland make his decision.
The Norwegian has been able to get off to a flying start during his time in Germany, picking up where he left off with RB Salzburg. Dortmund are in a position to progress into the quarter-finals of the Champions League, whereas Manchester United are fighting incredibly hard just to get into it in the first place following a tough campaign domestically and in Europe thus far.
