Halford set for Bolton switch

Bolton Wanderers are set to sign Greg Halford on loan from Championship rivals Nottingham Forest, according to the Mail Online.

The defender has failed to make a single appearance for Stuart Pearce’s high flying side so far this season, having fallen behind Dan Harding, Eric Lichaj and new signings Danny Fox and Jack Hunt in the pecking order.

Bolton, who have an extensive injury list which includes defenders David Wheater Liam Trotter and Kevin McNaughton, are hoping to finalise a deal on Thursday after already bringing in Owen Garvan on a temporary deal from Crystal Palace earlier this week.

Halford is set to sign for the Trotters on an initial three month loan, which could be made permanent when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 29 year old has made eighty-two appearances in all competitions for Forest since signing from Portsmouth in the summer of 2012, scoring eight goals.
