Handed the chance to extend their buffer at the top of the National League, Halifax will welcome Chorley to the Shay Stadium on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while many around the Shay Stadium may have been concerned by Halifax’s shock 1-0 loss against Harrogate last month, the Blues have really bounced back in some style. Shocking many across England’s fifth-tier since making their National League debut over the summer, Pete Wild’s men have now landed back-to-back victories, including a 1-0 win away at Maidenhead over the weekend. Already holding a two-point buffer over the chasing pack at the top of the table, the former Oldham boss will also be growing more pleased by his side’s defensive resolve. Halifax have now recorded back-to-back clean sheets and should be confident of extending their winning run in midweek.

As for the visitors, while Halifax might be enjoying a bright debut campaign in the National League, Chorley find themselves in a very different position. Playing out a pair of lackluster 0-0 draws against Dagenham & Redbridge and Aldershot, they have now managed to win just one of their opening 15 appearances and are already hunting a four-point buffer in the drop zone. Along with sowing some worrying issues in the final third, Chorley have also yet to pick up a victory outside of Lancashire and have also bagged just a single strike in their last three matches on the road.
