Bundesliga side Hamburger SV have moved to confirm that long-serving goalkeeper Rene Adler will leave the club at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old will be out of contract in just over a month and he opted against staying at Imtech Arena despite being offered a new deal.
Hamburg confirmed the news via their official Twitter account, just two days after the club had secured Bundesliga survival by coming from behind to defeat Wolfsburg on the final day of the season.
Adler had joined the Red Shorts from Bayer Leverkusen five years ago and went on to make 117 league appearances for the club.
Capped 12 times by Germany, the experienced shot-stopper decided to search for a new challenge and it remains to be seen whether he will leave Bundesliga for the first time in his career.
