Bundesliga side Hamburger SV have set their sights on the Brazilian defensive midfielder Walace, German media outlet Bild has learned.
HSV sporting director Jens Todt is already in Brazil to negotiate a deal for the Gremio player, who won a gold medal with Brazil at the 2016 summer Olympics.
The 21-year-old first came under the radar of the German side back in August 2016 at Maracana in Rio De Janeiro, when the Selecao beat Germany on penalties to win the gold medal in front of home supporters.
Walace has spent his entire professional career at Gremio, where he made a senior debut back in 2014.
Brazil international has so far made 65 appearances for Gremio, whereas he also made two senior appearances for his country.
HSV are hoping to wrap up a deal for the industrious midfielder over the next few days and bring Walace to Volsparkstadion where he will be joined by another Olympics gold medallist, Douglas Santos, who joined HSV on a €7.5 million deal from Atletico Mineiro in 2016.
