Gojko Kacar makes a switch to Hamburg
After signing Heiko Westermann just few days ago, Hamburger have captured yet another Bundeliga star by signing Hertha’s utility player Gojko Kacar.
HSV are set to pay Hertha 5.5 miliion euros up front for the versatile midfielder, as well as another 2 million depending on the performances.
After arriving to Berlin in January 2008, Kacar quickly became a first team regular and he has since played 64 Bundesliga games, during which he contributed to the attacking department with no less than 10 goals. Kacar missed the big part of last season through knee injury and his absence was one of the main reasons for Hertha’s downfall last term.
The Serbian international is happy to continue in Bundesliga.
“I am glad that the transfer has been completed and I now look forward to playing for Hamburger. My objective was to continue playing in Bundesliga. Now, I am going straight to HSV training camp.”
The young Serb is a player every coach could only wish for as he is capable of playing every position on the pitch apart from, maybe, goalkeeper, but his preferred role is that of a central midfielder, which is exactly where HSV boss Armin Veh sees him for the coming season. If the injury problems pass him by, I can see him becoming an integral part of a very good Hamburger side.

Manchester United desperate to keep Vidic
Real Madrid have been expressing their interest in the Serbian defender, but Manchester United are prepared to do anything to keep Vidic at Old Trafford.
The Serb, who wants parity with club’s top earners Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand, will be offered a new deal, worth £90,000 per week, by Manchester United in order to ward off interest from los Merengues.
Vidic is still on holiday in Mallorca following his participation at the World Cup and is set to resume training next week. With injury-prone Ferdinand and Brown the only experienced centre-backs in the squad, it is clear that Sir Alex Ferguson has got to keep Vidic at Old Trafford and thus the new contract offer.
The Serbian defender has flirted with Real Madrid in the past but that was probably just an attempt to find out how much United value him, as well as means of getting an improved contract. His mission seems to have worked like a charm.

Jose Manuel Pinto staying at Barcelona
Barcelona back-up keeper, Jose Manuel Pinto is not interested in changing clubs and is willing to remain at Camp Nou.
Pinto’s appearances for Barcelona were mostly restricted to Copa del Rey matches during the last few years but despite several offers from other clubs, he has no intention of leaving the Catalans.
“I have received offers to leave, but I am very happy here since this is the best club in the world. The only thing that worries me is Barcelona. I don’t want to waste my energy on anything else.”
Pinto is likely to start the Spanish Super Cup game against Sevilla because Victor Valdes will be far from the desired form after returning from holiday.
“I am always prepared, because I need to be at my best when I am given the chance to play.”
The reliable keeper did a good job last season every time he was called upon and this will definitely be good news for Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola.
